Crain's Chicago Business - Q-bbq Moves Into Chicago
Q BBQ moves into Chicago
Q BBQ is coming in from the suburbs.
The barbecue joint, which started in La Grange nearly five years ago, is opening in Lakeview. It will be the third spot for Q BBQ, which also has an outpost in Naperville.
"We have a lot of fans from the city coming out to La Grange," said owner Michael LaPidus. "We'll probably have a couple of city locations."
The restaurant is also a hit with Michelin's renowned restaurant guide. Q BBQ last year earned a Bib Gourmand, the equivalent of an honorable mention. Bib Gourmands are issued to restaurants with "exceptional value" where diners can order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less exclusive of tax and tip. The average Q BBQ check is $11 to $12.
Construction is scheduled to start Tuesday in the space on Diversey Avenue formerly occupied by Barrio Urban Taqueria. He's shooting for a Dec. 1 opening.
It's a fast-casual kind of spot where diners order at a counter and food is delivered to the table. Q BBQ prides itself on brisket that spends 22 hours in the smoker and four house-made sauces.
